OK, that image might be a bit misleading, but bear with me here.
(There actually IS a large pancake stack in this wonderful video I’m about to share with you – titled “10 Americans“).
Over the past year, I’ve been working with an Environmental Toxins Expert – learning as much as I can about the home environment in particular and the many little things we can do to create change.
(As a former interior designer, with an eye on Green Design – this was right up my alley!)
That’s why, whenever possible, I like to broaden the conversation – so that we’re not just talking about food sensitivities, but understanding that other environmental factors can also impact our health.
Just to share an example – did you know that the average female consumer uses a dozen personal care products every day (which may, or may not contain gluten)? And that those products alone, contain in the neighborhood of 168 different chemicals?
(Men use about half as many products – containing 85 different chemicals, or so.)
Either way you look at it, that’s a lot!
Even more surprising, is that companies aren’t required to test their products.
Nor are they required to list hazardous ingredients on the labels.
And yet, many of these chemical ingredients are known to increase the risk of:
- Cancer
- Birth Defects
- Weight Gain/Obesity
- Infertility
- Hormone Disruption (endocrine disruption)
Crazy, huh?
The thing is, none of us is immune from exposure and that includes the most vulnerable among us – babies, young children and of course, the elderly.
Which brings me (in a round-about way) to the main topic here – and that pancake stack – a wonderful little video called “10 Americans”.
I learned about this video a few weeks ago, and I’ve been sharing it ever since with everyone I know.
Why?
As you will see, it carries a very strong message.
Could you be one of these 10 Americans?
Perhaps. After all, each of us is vulnerable, although some are more susceptible than others.
The short answer is, we’re all at risk, not just for ourselves but also for future generations that come after us.
If not you, then it might be your children or grandchildren or perhaps your partner.
(It depends on that magical mix of your genes – plus the environment you’ve been exposed to).
As I shared on Facebook, I found this video to be compelling, moving and even entertaining, while focusing on the most vulnerable among us – babies who’ve yet to be born.
It will almost certainly make you sit up and take notice.
Oh yes – be sure to check out the pancake stack!
